Training Carers for Leadership and

Livelihoods

FEB 6, 2025

At LEADS Nepal, building the capacity of carers, women who care for family members with mental illness or disabilities is central to our mission. Through a variety of leadership, vocational, and mental health training, carers are gaining new skills, confidence, and recognition in their communities. They learn to manage cooperatives, lead meetings, and make financial decisions for their families.

Our vocational programmes equip carers with practical skills in ginger processing, broom-making, beekeeping, goat and poultry rearing, fruit planting, and small business management. Many have started earning steady incomes through their cooperatives and Carers Agri-products Collection Centres, supporting children’s education and family health.

In partnership with Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs), LEADS also runs community mental health awareness sessions helping families recognise symptoms early and access care. Each training brings carers

closer to self-reliance and dignity.
